How to Install Custom Tracking Scripts
Follow this step-by-step guide to add custom scripts site wide or on specific pages.
A Step-by-Step Guide to Installing Custom Tracking Scripts
1. Installing a Global Script:
- Script Examples: Global scripts that need to be installed site wide would be things like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Hubspot Tracking, Call Tracking Metrics, etc.
- Instructions:
- If the site is built on Hyperdrive (most of our sites should be) you can find the Custom Scripts options page under the Hyperdrive menu. From here you have 3 options: Head Scripts, Body Scripts, and Footer Scripts. Any sort of tracking script will always go in the first box, Head Scripts.
- If the site is not built on Hyperdrive try to look for an option named something like Custom Scripts under the theme menu for whatever theme it was built on.
- In some cases you may need to use a plugin such as Header and Footer Scripts in order to add the script.
2. Installing a Script on a Single Page:
- Script Examples: Scripts that need to be installed only on a single specific page would be things like conversion scripts for thank you pages.
- Instructions:
- If the site is built on Hyperdrive (most of our sites should be) you can find the Page Scripts options in the Hyperdrive Sidebar. While editing a page or post look for the Hyperdrive logo in the top right corner to switch to the Hyperdrive Sidebar. From here you can add custom scripts to the header or footer.
- If the site is not built on Hyperdrive try to look for an option named something like Custom Scripts under the theme menu for whatever theme it was built on. You may need to look up documentation on the theme in order to find how to add the script to a single page.
- In some cases you may need to use a plugin such as Header and Footer Scripts in order to add the script.
